This morning the Rio Grande SABR Chapter held it's monthly meeting at Isotopes Park. This months guest speaker was the 1987 first round pick (8th overall) by the Los Angeles Dodgers Dan Opperman.

Dan's a graduate of Valley High School in Las Vegas Nevada. He was classmates and teammates with former Major League pitcher Greg Maddux and Steve Rodriguez former major league baseball infielder, and current head coach of the Pepperdine University baseball team.
Dan's career was shortened by injuries, and made it as high as Triple-A Albuquerque. While playing for the Dukes he was 7-7 with a 5.25 ERA.
