HERB "BRIEFCASE" SIMPSON

This past season the Isotopes brought to town Herb "Briefcase" Simpson.

Simpson was not only a baseball player but he also served his country in World War II, and was a Harlem Globetrotter from 1947-1949.

Simpson played for the Double-A Texas League Albuquerque Dukes in 1952, 1953, and 1954.

While with the Dukes he hit .331 with 16 homers from the left side.  He had 76 doubles while in Albuquerque.

Simpson also played in the Negro Leagues with the Seattle Steelheads and the Chicago American Giants.

Very cool! There aren't many Negro Leaguers left, so we need to honor them while they're still around.

Nice post Evan. That is a rare opportunity to meet a player from that era.
